THE RESILIENT SMALLHOLDER INITIATIVE

The Resilient Smallholder Initiative was launched on May 31st, 2024, by PRIMA RESILINK, PRIMA INOVFARMER, PRIMA MED-LINKS,  H2020 FAIRCHAIN and HE EU4ADVICE. This idea was discussed during the First Symposium of InovFarmer.MED.

The main objectives are to collaborate, organize events/webinars, share knowledge, results and tools to increase smallholder farmers’ resilience in the agri-food chain, spanning all the aspects addressed by the contributing projects. A first focus could be on the Mediterranean area as addressed by the PRIMA Partnership. However, the scope of the activities can be enlarged to other regions of the world.

RESILINK: A LIGHT-WEIGHT SERVER FOR FAST DEPLOYMENT

In Newsletter #2 we highlighted the importance of an open API to implement a platform-of-platforms approach, capable of integrating existing or future platforms. Here we want to focus on the deployment of such platforms: in crisis situations, it is critical to be able to deploy such digital platforms in only a couple of hours!

We designed the RESILINK digital platform and its open API to be run on small servers, even on a Raspberry Pi !

A RESILINK server can therefore be locally deployed by local city gouvernment agencies, agriculture cooperatives, agriculture services, … in an incremental manner as illustrated in the following figure where additional servers can be added in more local areas to manage localized resources. The RESILINK mobile application can select any of these servers in a dynamic manner.
